Yves Saint Laurent.

Yves Henri Donat Matthieu Saint Laurent was always outstanding. He liked to draw paper dolls and just in his teen years he started to design dresses for his sisters. But there was one meeting that changed his whole live. It's a time when his mother took him to met with a director of French Vogue, Michel de Bornhoff who was so impressed with his designs, he published some of them immediately. From that point new world opened for Saint Laurent. He moved to Paris, met Christian Dior and at the age of 18 became his assistant. The teenager that was bullied at school and couldn't fit in the society was now learning step by step from one of the biggest fashion icons in the world.
He gained more and more knowledge and when he was just 22 after Christian Dior death he became art Director of Dior. Same year Saint Laurent lunched his first collection called "Trapeze", it had 178 looks for spring-summer 1958 and it was a big success which won him a Neiman Marcus Oscar. He introduced to the world "TRAPEZE LINE", clothes that didn't show of the waist, he did something  completely different but still perfectly fitting in to the Dior aesthetics.
But the BIG revolution was a "Beat look" from 1960. This collection was very dark, it featured black, leather jackets covered in crocodile pattern and they were also "lined in milk". It was to controversial for Dior at this time and Saint Laurent got replaced with Marc Bohan later that year.
But this didn't stop him, he set up his own Fashion House with Pierre Berge and started to work and design by his own rules. He invented many unique pieces that changed the world of fashion, like Mondrian Shift Dresses, Bolero Jackets, Safari Jackets or ICONIC Le Smoking Suit that made women powerful and sexy at the same time.
Saint Laurent by his hard work and creativity menaged to turn fashion into art and this is why he was nicknamed by the press :little prince of fashion". His success in unbelievable and like Pierre Berg said "If Chanel gave women their freedom it was Saint Laurent who empowered theme"

  1. I like trapeze dresses a lot, and the suit too. There nothing more attractive than a true classic.
Try to stick to the word limit.
